Cherie Strong; Pens Art Over Literature

Cherie Strong is a Scenic Rim based artist who currently freelances from her studio. Cherie was signed with the Art and Soul Gallery from 2008-2012. She has had 4 solo shows and exhibited extensively in various group showcases in Queensland and won several awards, including the Stars of the Future Award from the Boonah and District Cultural Foundation in 2010. She has been seen in the Australian Art Collectors magazine this year and her popularity has risen widely in the last two years with a near sell-out show ‘She Paints the town Red’ in 2011.

She has an eclectic range of styles and mediums at her disposal and often runs with certain themes and obsessions until they are exhausted, before reinventing herself once more. Working in a variety of mediums, including acrylics, pen and ink, charcoal and aerosol, her art often marries classical type images, ornate frames, text and feminine themes. She has an offbeat quirky side too and it’s in there where most of her conceptual works are found. Her artworks are found in private collections internationally and around Australia and recently on the streets of Brisbane in the form of “free art Friday” and street art pieces.
